Christmas Wedding Ideas for a Festive Day
Christmas themed wedding ideas are some of our favorites! With red berries, evergreen branches, and Christmas wedding colors, they truly can be so festive. If you’re searching for December wedding ideas, this event delivers!
Not only is it a gorgeous event but Karleigh and Hunter had to deal with changes to their winter wedding ideas. COVID had a resurgence, and regulations were a concern. However, this couple still had a lovely day filled with family, friends, and love.
Planning a Christmas Wedding During COVID
What plans did you have to change to hold your wedding?
The first thing I had to change was the guest list. With all the restrictions, we decided to reduce our wedding to family only to keep the number of people small.
We also had to change venues to make sure we complied with the new rules that were in place. We decided against having a sit-down meal and dancing to help minimize people from being close to each other.
If you’re using December wedding ideas, you need to have Christmas wedding invitations, too.
Why did you still go ahead with your Christmas wedding?
We decided to not cancel or postpone our wedding because the most important thing for us is that we love each other and couldn’t wait to be married. Even with everything going on we knew we wanted to be married no matter what was happening.
How did your vendors react to the changes?
All of our vendors were amazing. We used a lot of our hometown friends. Where we held our small reception the owner offered money back since this year has been like no other.
Another option she offered was to let us come back in the future once it’s safer and have a big party with all our family and friends who were not able to attend this year due to COVID.
Christmas wedding dresses and cute, personalized shirts can make an event truly festive.
What safety precautions did you take with your wedding day?
At the ceremony, everybody wore masks and were seated with their family. At our reception, the same was in place.
We had masks made that said, “Quarantined for life Karleigh and Hunter”. We also had hand sanitizer at each table. The only things we served were cupcakes and cake.
We had servers bring them to everyone at each table. That way no one was having to get up and touch the same items as everyone else. The servers also wore masks and gloves.
What were the pros and cons of having a smaller wedding?
One pro of having a smaller wedding was that it felt more intimate. We were not rushed to make sure we were staying on a schedule.
A con is that a lot of our friends missed out on our special day.
Personalized masks are fabulous to use as winter wedding ideas during cold, flu, and pandemic season.
Did you learn anything by having to change your plans?
I learned that not everything in your life will go exactly how you planned it. You just need to sit back and enjoy the life that God has blessed you with.
What did you do about a honeymoon after your Christmas wedding?
For our honeymoon, we stayed in a little beach cottage by the sea at Anna Maria Island in Florida. It was very peaceful and beautiful weather!
Enjoy these lovely Christmas wedding ideas!
