Virginia Vineyard Wedding in the Blue Ridge Mountains

If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. Virginia vineyards are gorgeous, and they make the most beautiful backdrop for a wedding – especially if you choose to have your wedding in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Just wait until you see how gorgeous these photos are in the sweetest of events today.

Gorgeous Wedding in the Blue Ridge Mountains

I am such a sucker for a wedding in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and this one is the perfect example of why! Gorgeous views and lush florals surrounded Sam and Charissa as they said “I do.” They had a few things to say about their wedding day, too!

How did you meet?

We both met in college during our sophomore years. We were friends of friends and just happened to connect at an outing one evening. From then on, we began to chat with each other and now here we are! The proposal, as many would say, was “magical.” It was during a trip we took to Florida with friends. We decided to take a “pit-stop” at Disney World one of the days and following the fireworks, Sam popped the question in front of Cinderella’s Castle. Charissa had no idea!

What inspired your theme?

We had the joy of living in Charlottesville for about two years post-college and absolutely loved the weekends we would spend at the local wineries. We fell in love with one specifically, King Family Vineyards, which we knew from the start of our venue search would be where we would later marry! The 360-degree view of the rolling hills, stable and polo decor inspired our theme.

Tell us about your decor.

We wanted our theme to be very simple and travel inspired, nothing over the top and taking much of the inspiration from the venues’ decor itself.  We made sure to have the flowers and centerpieces be the focal points of our design and the rustic elements be a subtle touch to complement the theme. Primarily all of our decor was DIY, which made us proud to call it “our own.”

How did you personalize your day?

We wanted our family and friends to have as much fun as possible! We arranged for yard games, a smores bar and a surprise “rave” that our guests couldn’t say no to! It was exciting to see how our guests of all ages act when they get a few glow sticks in their hands. Our favorite aspect of the wedding had to certainly be the ceremony. Every element of it played out correctly, from the picturesque weather to the walk down the aisle. We could not have wished for a better day!

Any advice for another couple?

Keep the true meaning in mind, there will be struggles but always remember why you are doing what you are doing.
