Every once in a while I get a surprise in my inbox – a bride sends me her own wedding! And when it’s as lovely as Will and Rachel’s French country wedding, it’s definitely a pleasure to feature.
The theme of their day is best described as “rustic Virginia with French country touches” as Rachel is a high school French teacher and the couple hails from VA. The color palette of grays and greens with hints of lavender has such a softness!
Here is what Rachel had to say about some of the details from their day…
The centerpieces, bar sign, chair decorations, signs, and wreaths were all handmade. The doilies all belonged to my grandma, as did a lot of the small bottles in the centerpieces. I decorated all the bottles with lace and twine. I wanted them to look rustic and simple, fitting with the gorgeous barn at Sierra Vista.
The ceremony chairs had ribbons streaming down the backs of them, and my mom made the wreaths on the cabin. She also painted the little wagon our flower girls and ring bearer came down the aisle in (the flower girls are very young, and the ring bearer can’t walk yet, so that was our solution!).
Our guest book was a sign of the state of Virginia, and we also had a Virginia framed picture and the outline of the state on our koozies, which were favors. We included a hint of my love for French with macarons on the cake and cupcakes (the cupcakes were made by one of our students), and I handmade 150 tiny macaron stands out of Sculpey clay for my escort card holders.
