I am SO, so very excited to share this styled shoot with you today. I have kept it under wraps for over two months, and it’s the first time I have ever revealed one of our photo shoots before our magazine publishes, so you are truly in for a treat! Plus, there is a story behind this shoot that I love… it truly was a collaboration.
The inspiration for our “dramatic monochromatic” shoot was this lovely Exquisite Leaves invitation suite from Wedding Paper Divas. In fact, I knew as soon as I saw the invitation that it was perfect! From it we drew inspiration for color, burnt out leaves and a style of simplicity with elegance.
From that inspiration, I decided on Bella Rose Plantation for the venue. It has lovely outdoor spaces along with having the perfect combination of rustic elegance. Estates Revisited offered the perfect selection of tableware and furniture for our theme. I love the combination of the ivory and gold dinnerware with the gold toned pressed glass drinkware. So lovely! One Creative Cookie designed these lovely (and yummy!) cookies, and Love Is in the Air took all of the elements and combined them into one beautiful table setting that I adore!
Gaining inspiration from the Wedding Paper Divas invitation, the skeleton leaves struck me as something that has beauty and structure that appears simple (because, after all… it is just a leaf), but if you inspect them closely, they are so intricately structured. So lovely! I used paper, frames, the leaves and parts of the invitations themselves to create some DIY projects that I will share with you on Wednesday. I can’t wait, but grab a sneak peek below!
Our bride and groom (a real life adorable couple!) was perfectly coiffed by Bodyworks Day Spa & Salon. Bethany’s hair turned out so lovely and is balanced by the subtleness of her shimmery makeup. Stunning! Our couple was decked out in a tux and gown (the slightest hint of a champagne color) from Celebration Bridal. The jewelry (all in rose gold) was borrowed from Fink’s Jewelers, and I love how unique it is… the pattern of the band and also the color of the diamond (along with the simple yet stunning necklace and earrings!). I also can’t brag enough about the handmade bow tie from Twenty23… those guys are amazing, and the ties are perfect for a wedding (and attendant gifts!). Bloom by Doyle’s added a naturally elegant touch with our bridal bouquet and boutonniere… perfect!
At the time of the shoot we were also fostering kittens from the Lynchburg Humane Society, so I couldn’t resist having 2 month old Gremelina (named such because my husband said she looked like a Gremlin as a kitten!). I am happy to report that she now has a loving home and is enjoying her new found photography fame.
Below are a few of my favorite images that our photographer, Liz, from Sincerely, Liz: Photography shot. That chair made the perfect background, and our setting was stunning!
Again, I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the many, many vendors who made this shoot possible! Stay tuned on Wednesday for our invitation-inspired DIY projects, Friday for more perspectives on this shoot from our guest photographers (they had amazing vision and lovely images!) and on Monday for another DIY project. Enjoy!
