Top 5 Photo Sessions for the Bride and Groom – Guest Post by Jeremiah Guelzo

Although you have already been exposed to Stone Blue Productions as a talented photography and cinematography company (and do not forget about design … they have done everything for Hill City Bride … our logo, our website and promotional materials), I am excited to introduce to you the owner of Stone Blue, Jeremiah Guelzo, who has many years of experience under his belt capturing those memorable times for the bride and groom.

Engagement

Wedding photos can start long before the wedding day with an engagement session. The session is all about you as a couple being in love and finally engaged. You can go to your favorite date spot or any scenic and romantic place to capture images of you as a couple in love.

These pictures are often used at the wedding (guest book cover, framed photo to sign), on your wedding website, the newspaper announcement and even just to keep as a record of you being the cute couple you are. Plus as an added bonus, it gives you time with your photographer so that you can get to know each other and feel more comfortable on the day of the wedding. Normally this is a big help to the guys as being in photos is not the norm for us (unlike girls who take photos any time they are out with friends).

Why miss out on the fun you could have with the one you love? Plus, the session is about you, so style it how you want it to look and feel and best tell your engagement story.

Bridal

After the wedding date has been set, the plans have been made, the dress has been chosen and the venue has been booked you will prepare for one of the most important parts of your wedding day … your bridal portraits. When your guests arrive at your reception, the first thing they will look for is the stunning picture of you, the bride in that breathtaking gown. Plus what groom does not look forward to seeing his bride all dolled up in a photo that he gets to keep?

One of the most significant parts to your bridal session is the location you. You want to find a location that inspires you and your beauty. Spend time considering whether you want an indoor portrait or something outside in nature … or do both! It all about being creative.

Consider whether you are looking for a more traditional bridal session in a flower garden or something more modern such as a train station. Choosing your location is definitely the starting point to creating perfect bridal portraits. Be creative, have fun and enjoy being a bride!

Wedding Day

Ok, if you have to ask then you really have not even started planning your wedding yet. The wedding day is full of so many little things that you just can not remember with your memory alone. That is why you want to invest in a photographer that fits your style and needs.

You get one shot at the big day. You want to be able to remember your special wedding moments, so do not trust your photographic memories to just anyone. Hiring a professional is money well spent in the long run.

Day After

The wedding day is just so full of things to do that we get very little time as photographers to spend relaxing with our clients. We must do our best not to rush, but in all reality the wedding takes place on a schedule … we wish we had much more time with the couple and could create more images for them!

The day after session is all about the bride and groom coming back to work with the photographer the day, month or year after the wedding in their dress and tux to capture some stunning images in a relaxed and creative approach that you just can not get on the wedding day. Plus, locations can be set up in advance, and the sky is the limit to what we can do with the now Mr. & Mrs.

Trash the Dress

This session is more about creation than it is about destruction. Originally started out on the West Coast, it has grown to be a special part of the wedding process.

We put the emphasis on the elegant and beautiful in an environment that is out of place. Getting wet, dirty or covered in paint may be just the thing to remember your dress by.

Sure, you could store it in the closet and save it for years just to hear your daughter say, “No thanks mom, I will get my own dress.” It is up to you, but for me, I would rather show the kids how cool we were when we were young.

Why do more than just wedding day photos?

Skeptics may wonder why do any of these sessions, but it is important to capture who you were at the time … how you looked into each others’ eyes when you were young and your love was new. Take the time to tell your love story and remember.

It is fun and memorable, and when all of the money is spent on your wedding day there are only two things you walk away with. One is your husband or wife, and the other are memories captured on film and printed out and framed or bound for you to share with your family and friends. Do not miss out on the moments you could share with someone you love.

Wow, what sage advice … I can vouch that it is true! Everyday Trash the Dress by KD Burke Photography – Bethany

It is always fun to reminisce about the beach, and what a perfectly romantic place for Bethany to have her Trash the Dress session with Kimberly Burke of KD Burke Photography. Even her new husband got in on the fun, and here is what Kimberly had to say about the day …

I am not a morning person (I hate to get up early), but my hubby has always told me the best light is in the morning at sunrise … he was right! These where taken in Hilton Head ,SC. I am sure you remember Bethany’s wedding submission as well, too. What a fun couple these two are ! I am over floored by this shoot, and it is my favorite of all time!!! I do not think that any other TTD shoot that I do will ever top these.

Enjoy a glimpse into Kimberly’s time with Bethany at the beach …

What a great, dreamy session. Thank you so much, Kimberly for sharing this with the readers of Hill City Bride.

Everyday Trash the Dress by Devin Olson Media – Ashley

Be sure to register for Bliss, a fine wedding fair going on tomorrow!! See you there.

This video definitely speaks for itself … both in what a Trash the Dress session can be but also to the validity of having a videographer capture your moments. Trash the Dress sessions are for fearless brides, especially as is evidence by Ashley and her session by the James River Foot Bridge. Devin from Devin Olson Media had the fun of capturing this unusual session of Ashley. Photos can speak volumes, yet I truly think that Ashley’s session is so unique due to the fact that she had it caught on video. Even Devin said, “If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth 5 million”, and I quite agree with him! I hope you enjoy both the stills and the video that Devin put together.

Everyday Trash the Dress by Stone Blue Productions – Jeffrey and Amanda

Carnival rides, a bicycle, swimming in the ocean and a wedding dress … which is the odd one in the group? Well, none of them if you are at VA Beach doing a Trash the Dress session with Stone Blue Productions.

What exactly is Trash the Dress? It is a fun session that takes place after the wedding, which gives a new purpose for a dress that is not needed anymore … mess it up, get it wet and be creative all while documenting it with beautiful photographs. Jeffrey and Amanda’s photo session was so amazingly different … I adore the ones on the carnival ride!

I hope that this session, which was filmed and photographed by the three Guelzo brothers, brings a smile to your face and helps you to linger on to the fun of summer days at the beach. Enjoy!

If you are in the mood for some unique photos after your wedding, you may want to consider a lively Trash the Dress session, too! To view the full gallery of these photos, be sure to visit the blog of Stone Blue Productions. Jeffrey and Amanda … I wish you the best in your lifetime together!

Also, for our giveaway that ended this week … congrats goes out to Kelly L as our winner. Again, she scored a beautiful double initial necklace from Lala Design Studio on Etsy. I will be hosting another giveaway soon, so be on the lookout!
