Hill City Bride

12 Days of Christmas Contest – Everyday Wedding from S Carter Studios – Jonathan & Samuelle

For the first 12 days of December, I am reposting my personal favorite photography postings. There are just so many that deserve attention once again … and these postings are not only getting attention, but they are getting a prize. That’s right! On December 13th, voting will begin to determine the best posting of 2011.

The photographer who submitted the winning posting will receive a $50 gift certificate to Gerald’s in Wyndhurst (what a great way to take a break and have a nice meal out during the holidays!). The couple featured in the winning posting will receive a $50 gift certificate to Charley’s in Lynchburg and also a $25 gift card to Starbucks … what a great date night!

So, whether you vote for the couple that speaks most to you and has that special spark, you root for the couple that has the most creativity or you even choose your favorite based on whose photography most aligns with your personal style, take a moment each day to look at the postings so that you can help us determine Hill City Bride’s winning couple and photographer.

I chose this wedding because it had so many unique elements, and it seems like it was a celebration where the guests (and bride and groom!) were really able to relax and just have fun! Without further due, here is today’s favorite:

I love it when a wedding incorporates fun! It makes for such a memorable time for the guests when everyone gets to just relax and let their hair down after the ceremony. Jonathan and Samuelle had a “Family Reunion” type of theme for their reception … what an appropriate theme when everyone is traveling far and wide to come together and celebrate!

This wedding was near Fredericksburg and was captured by Sabrena Deal of S Carter Studios. I love the flair for fun in these images. The bride even gave crab picking lessons at the reception, and guests were donned with t-shirts to change into so they would not get messy … how thoughtful! Attendees were also able to have the use of canoes to explore the river at their leisure. To cap off some of the fun, the guests were given playing cards as favors, and the bride and groom joined in to play some high stake games.

I love the fact that Jonathan and Samuelle were so attainable to and real with their wedding guests at their August wedding. Famous Dave’s BBQ and Rita’s even helped to cater the event. Enjoy this fun set of photos!

Thank you again, Sabrena, for sharing these with us. If you would like to take a peek at S Carter Studios‘ blog posting on this wedding, just click here.

12 Days of Christmas Contest – Everyday E session by Colling Photography – Jonathan & Amanda

I think this session is just plain fun, and I love the personal nature of it by featuring something that is near and dear to the hearts of the couple. Without further due, here is today’s favorite:

First, I want to welcome Jeremiah and Kathie Colling, the husband and with duo that is Colling Photography. They are such a fun and talented addition to the Hill City Bride family as you will see in this posting, which has “fun” written all over it. Even if you are not a VA Tech fan (I am not taking sides on this one!), you will find Jonathan and Amanda’s session so full of life.

Kathie says of the engagement session, “The funny thing is that it was raining the entire time at VA Tech when we shot this. So, naturally, we got creative and made the most if it!”

Amanda and Jonathan were married recently on July 3rd, which is why you will see a “7-3-11″ image. Enjoy and have fun along with this cute couple!

Thank you again to Colling Photography for sharing Jonathan and Amanda’s engagement photos from their time at VA Tech. If you would like to see more of their session, just click here. Congratulations to this darling couple!

Smith Mountain Lake always will hold a special place in my heart, and I adore this colorful lakeside wedding. Without further due, here is today’s favorite:

The lazy days summer are long gone, yet one place that my family especially enjoys during the summer is Smith Mountain Lake. Today, I have the pleasure of showing off this lovely wedding by David Duncan of David Duncan Photography, which took place at Mariner’s Landing. Here is what David had to say about this wedding…

We shot this wedding of Lisa and Tim at Mariner’s Landing, and their son, Nicholas, was also in the wedding. It took place outside on the lawn, and this was the first time my assistant and I were allowed to wear shorts while shooting a wedding… Lisa insisted that we be nice and cool while shooting on a hot day outside. This was also the first time for us to shoot a wedding at Mariner’s Landing, which is such a cool location!

For me, I love it all… the lakeside views, the initials in the sand and the colorful flowers. Without further due, take a peek at Tim and Lisa.

Thank you, David, for sharing this lovely lakeside wedding with the readers of Hill City Bride! If you would like to view more of David’s work, just click here to go straight to his website.

This bridal session speaks for itself, but I adore it due to its uniqueness, effort (yet seemingly effortless) and creatively cool vibe. Without further due, here is today’s favorite:

Sometimes when I see the work of the HCB photographers, my heart skips a beat, and this session definitely made my heart skip and jump for joy! It is so beautifully styled and fun to look at. It was photographed and co-styled by Crystal George of Crystal George Studios. Here are Crystal’s own words about her Queen of Hearts session:

Angila has a love of all things Alice and wanted to do something fun. So we put our thinking caps on. Let’s be honest people, Alice is lovely, but it has a million different takes on it. One that I’d never seen done was the bride as the Queen of Hearts. I think Angila makes a heartbreaker Queen of Hearts, no? We had such a fun time playing around in our own little version of Wonderland. Huge, huge thanks La Bella Torta, Rod Meek & Co, and RS Exclusive for helping to make this happen.
