Some sessions are just so unique that they just leave a lasting impression. I feel that the colors combined with the Japanese history and vintage aspects of the elements of these photographs do just that. This Asian Geisha inspiration shoot was dreamed up by the photographer, who is Japanese and had several 100 year old kimonos and vintage décor in a box tucked away. Her stylist Kelley Garner put together this themed styled shoot to juxtapose the Asian theme with her high fashion style. Top it off with an amazing Asian cake and floral design and viola… it’s a geisha inspired fashion shoot!
Here is what the photographer, Pam from Paris Mountain Photography, had to say about the inspiration behind the shoot…
I was watching a car commercial at around midnight that had a beautiful woman and some red fabric flash on the screen for about 1 second, and the inspiration was born! My mother is Japanese, and I have a lot of her vintage kimonos. She also sent me a couple more to use for the session along with her vintage tableware. I was SO excited to use elements that I grew up with and know she used as a child.
My Stylist Kelley Garner also got several items from a friend who served in the military in Japan, and the owner of the venue Belle Terra had a beautiful screen that served as the backdrop for our amazing Asian inspired cake. Their ability to transform two Asian city girls in to fashion Geishas was absolutely amazing! Every year we always try to get together a couple of times to work on inspiration shoots not only show our work to our clients but also to push our limits at artists. The challenge is fun, and we enjoy the creative process more and have a wickedly fun time together!
