Vendor Spotlight – The Trivium – Part One by HCB Intern Madison White

Have you heard? The Trivium is now open under new management, and we are so excited to have them on board as a vendor with us.

The Trivium is located on 221 and is a beautiful white antebellum that is a great location for a wedding, reception, or even just a party. The new owner of The Trivium is Heidi Baker, and she is so thrilled to be able to get this beautiful location up and running again.

In college, Heidi had two options for her future career. She either wanted to be a CEO of a corporation or an event planner. After spending a year working for a company in Annapolis, she was able to see the demands of a CEO and decided event planning was a much better option.

Heidi and her father were on the lookout for an old farmhouse that they could turn into a wedding venue and as she says,  ”Fate stepped in because in September, I was casually flipping through the Real Estate book and saw The Trivium.” She mentioned this find to her father, and the next thing she knew, he was calling her and telling her to come look at it. “Naturally, I fell in love with it. We knew it would be a huge undertaking, but we saw the potential and decided to buy it. I never thought I would own and be running my dream business so young, but I am so blessed that I am,” she says.

Since the purchase, Heidi has been working hard to renovate The Trivium by working closely with Interiors by Moyanne to create a fresh and contemporary look that will appeal to more brides. She put herself in a bride’s shoes and asked herself … what would she want when she was getting ready for her big day?

Heidi had to find a way to make sure the men were catered to as much as the women, so she created a “man cave” for the groomsmen, complete with a 42″ flat screen TV and an 80′s classic arcade game system. Heidi also made some changes in the ballroom to create a more elegant feel by adding new chandeliers and stage curtains. “I really wanted to create a wedding venue that has that historic charm but with a bright and fun atmosphere,” she said.

Now you must be wondering what exactly The Trivium can offer a bride. Well first of all, it can offer a beautiful location for her wedding or reception or even both. The Trivium allows the bride to customize her day by allowing outside vendors to have fun extras on the wedding day! The staff at The Trivium understands the importance of the big day, and they do everything to make sure the bride has a stress free time.

Heidi’s vision for the future would definitely be a booked up schedule as she and the staff at The Trivium have worked hard to create a wedding venue for the area that is different than the others. The biggest challenges so far that Heidi has faced is making sure people understand that The Trivium is once again open and is now under new ownership and management. They are working to make sure to create a unique atmosphere of fun and elegance for the whole wedding party.

Why not schedule a visit to The Trivium? Heidi would be more than glad to show you around the property so that you can see all that this wonderful venue has to offer. Call her at 540.586.2823 today, and tell her that Hill City Bride sent you!

Ask the Exclusive – “Great Events Don’t Just Happen” – guest posting for HCB Columnist RS Exclusive by Leah Ouimet

The big day has finally arrived; the moment in which a woman gets to walk down the aisle surrounded by close family and friends as the man of her dreams is awestruck with the beauty he gets to soon call his wife. The atmosphere is flawless and every expectation of the bride is fulfilled above and beyond what she dreamed or hoped for. The decor is an exact extension of the bride’s personality, and the music enveloping the air around her brings warmth and serenity to this unforgettable moment in her life.

Wait a minute. Unforgettable weddings don’t just plan themselves. Hours upon additional hours are dedicated to creating and orchestrating the wedding that exceeds a bride’s desires. The wedding planner and specialist of your choice can be the all-in-one stop to any bride’s perfect day.

Let’s take you behind the scenes to what goes on prior to when the bride and groom say, “I do”. An event may go off without a hitch, but that doesn’t come without a commitment to work hard and hammer out any issues in advance. When a bride comes with questions about the services offered, a consultation with a planner is both professional and personal, providing answers to anything a bride may inquire about. An event planner can ensure that your requested colors and theme will be incorporated through flowers, linens, candles, and so much more, and an expert can take care of rentals, which is one more stress off your shoulders. Flowers are purchased as close as possible to the wedding day so freshness and vibrancy is guaranteed. Event coordination and direction is another specialty your wedding planner can handle so you don’t have to worry who will run the dress rehearsal if such a need should arise.

Your wedding specialist can recommend a top of the line caterer who will keep all the guests coming back for more at the reception. Every bride has a preference for the type of music she wants at the wedding … from romantic music to songs that pull you off your seat and onto the dance floor. So, the perfect musician or DJ that fits your style can be scheduled. Do you feel anxious about your first dance, and want it to look effortless? All you have to do is ask your wedding planner to help you choreograph (or find someone who can choreograph) the most creative and captivating dance; entrusting them with that special moment will surely be a decision you won’t regret.

With any wedding comes the unavoidable hindrances that put a glitch into the planning. No delay should impede progress or the professionalism your wedding planner can bring to each and every event. If scheduling is thrown off course, if flowers don’t come in when expected, the rentals don’t live up to the standard set high for every wedding, each and every issue will be addressed immediately. Every bride’s desire is fulfilled will care, and attention to detail is everything. The time leading up to the wedding no longer has to be stressful because all you need to do is let your wedding planner take care of your every need so you can breathe easy.

On a day when you want to just sit back, be the bride, enjoy and soak everything in, I would encourage you to think about leaving the coordinating to someone else. You’ll be glad you did!

Vendor Spotlight – Interiors by Moyanne

Lynchburg has such a great community of business owners, and it is truly a place where many people go into businesses for themselves (and successfully, I might add!). Many of my friends are fellow business owners, many of which serve as an inspiration to me. One of these is Moyanne … when you hear her name, your mind may immediately conjure up images of beautiful furnishings.

Beyond the fact that Moyanne is a wonderfully talented, highly sought after designer, she is also super sweet! I will admit, when I first called her to see if she would be willing to help with our editorial photo shoot set design, I was a little intimated … after all, she was “Moyanne“! I have had the opportunity to get to know her throughout the past year, and she helped out with both the Napoleon and Josephine shoot along with letting me borrow items to stage my booth at the spring Bridal Expo.

A few months ago, Jeremiah Guelzo of Stone Blue Productions, and I stopped by Interiors by Moyanne to capture a few photos of her in the store along with getting a few photos of her beautiful furnishings and accessories themselves. I just wanted to share them with the readers of Hill City Bride. If you need help in setting up your new home or even a few accessories for your wedding, head on over to her store across from Randolph College on Rivermont Avenue in Lynchburg.

Moyanne, thank you again for helping out HCB, and I have really enjoyed getting to know you … you do such amazing work (and have great taste!). I wish Interiors by Moyanne many more years of success.

Everyday Wedding By KD Burke Photography – Aaron & Jennike

What girl doesn’t love a fun, colorful pair of shoes? Jennike definitely made an adorable choice with her footwear for her wedding! Kimberly Burke of KD Burke Photography captured the moments between Aaron and Jennike on their wedding day, which included fun and special times with their 180 guests.

Here is a little bit about the couple and their engagement in Jennike’s own words …

We met in Richmond after graduating college in the summer of 2008. Aaron approached me at a local bar, and we went on our first date shortly after. After two years of dating, Aaron took me on a hot air balloon ride in Charlottesville (something I had always wanted to do). After helping the crew put up the balloon, we took off in it to see the sun rise over the mountains. When we were down with the hot air balloon ride, Aaron took me on a morning picnic near a vineyard, and he proposed while we were packing up!
