Hill City Bride’s First Anniversary Ice Cream Social
The vendors of Hill City Bride are so much fun, and I really enjoy getting together with them … recently we had the perfect excuse to celebrate together. Hill City Bride just had its first anniversary in late June. With the heat of the summer (ok, and the desire to have some childlike fun), I decided to host an Ice Cream Social to thank the vendors for all of their support over my first year. “Old” vendors that have been with me since day 1 were there along with the “new” vendors that have joined HCB along the way. I am SO thankful for all of them, and enjoy the little glimpse of our evening, which had perfect weather (although it was terribly humid and downpoured to close off our evening, but I was so happy that it did not rain DURING our social).
Thank you to everyone that attended, and I missed those who could not make it. Happy first Anniversary HCB!! I also want to thank Jeremiah Guelzo of Stone Blue Productions, who was thoughtful enough to bring his camera and snap a few photos of the event. The first set of photos were taken by Jeremiah.
The celebration took place at the Farm Basket on Langhorne Road in Lynchburg. They have a beautiful back deck … you should have lunch and check it out sometime! Their own colorful flowers adorned the tables.
There was a guessing game … guests guessed the number of sprinkles in a jar. No one was even close! There were over 6000 (no, I did not count each sprinkle … I counted a spoonful, then counted the number of spoonfuls it took to fill the jar), and the closest guess was around 4000. The prize was a Starbucks gift card!
Many thanks to my intern, Madison, for making our ice cream themed nametags!
HCB’s vendors suggested toppings for the ice cream bar, and I don’t think that the Farm Basket missed one that was on the list! They did an amazing job with everything.
Some chose fruit as a topping … I opted for all of the nonhealthy (ok, chocolate!) toppings.
Here is one vendor’s final creation!
The photos below were snapped with a camera that I had available for anyone who wanted to snap some … thank you to all of those brave souls that picked up the camera to take a few shots.
It was fun to see everyone making their treats … mine was snagged so that a photo of it could be taken. I was NOT very patient waiting for them to snap the above image. I could not wait to delve in!
We played a mixer game that had people get to know others, and they were separated into groups. My group was made up of JoEllen Perkins of SPA 4109, me (gosh humidity does NOT agree with my curly hair!!), Schuyler Sumers of Farm Basket and Leecy Fink of Celebration and Tresca on 8th.
Kim Jennings of Capture It Photography and Events, Brian Lewis, my wonderful intern Madison White and Kerry Giles of Farm Basket had a nice time getting to know each other.
Caitlin Smith of Capture It Photography, Brad Bennett and Kelli Sill of Shaking Hands Productions, and Amanda Turner of Elegant Affair had a nice time getting to know each other.
Such a group of sweet ladies … Jayna Short of It Works, Crystal George of Crystal George Studios, Amanda Gray of Ashley Baber Weddings and Tara Cofer of Celebration and Tresca on 8th.
This was a fun group (truly, I had to get them to stop being silly for the photo!) … Melissa Taylor of Travelbugs, Jeremiah Guelzo of Stone Blue Productions, Kasey Forehand of Boudoir and Kathie Colling of Colling Photography.
Such a wonderful and talented group of vendors … Sandra Guelzo of RS Exclusive, Jeremiah Colling of Colling Photography, Cori Shick of Elegant Affair, Sabrena Deal of S Carter Studios/The Virginia Photo Booth Company and Adam Barnes of Adam Barnes Fine Art Photography.
Thank you again to all of the amazing vendors who provide wonderful services to local brides, and thank you also to all of the brides (and others!) who peruse Hill City Bride. I am looking forward to many more years to come.

Looking good, everyone!
Sorry I had to miss this lovely event!
Gosh darn it! Yall look like you were really having a great time – and I knew you would – it just wasn’t in the cards for either of us to be there. Sorry we missed it and hopefully we won’t have to miss another one!
We missed you all, too! Next time for sure … I’m holding you to it.
Great event. Thanks for having it.
Jeremiah, thank you for all that you did for it! I appreciated it, and it was such fun to get together with everyone.
